Kindness: Junior Class and National Honor Society Warm the Holidays with Holiday Toy Drive

Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH), literally meaning Our little brothers and sisters, is an organization that has provided a home for thousands of orphans and abandoned children since 1954. Currently there are NPH homes in 9 countries throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

DASH shows that #Values Matter Miami

MDCPS supports the Values Matter Miami initiative, and DASH “cooperates” enthusiastically. A variety of activities have taken place throughout the school year to demonstrate and support the nine key values, which are: Citizenship, Fairness, Cooperation, Kindness, Pursuit of Excellence, Responsibility, Respect, Integrity and Honesty.

Most recently, Ms. Janice Jackson, our Virtual School facilitator, has launched an initiative demonstrating the value of Responsibility. FLVS students have taken responsibility for building a display of magnets and other items on the lab’s whiteboard to highlight all the values throughout the year, and all students are welcome to add a symbol or message of hope to the board, which is pictured in progress below.

Earlier in the year, Ms. Rosie Gordon-Wallace, a DASH advisory board member, delivered an inspiring address to a whole school assembly inviting us all to reflect on the value of Respect.

Furthermore, DASH celebrated the Pursuit of Excellence at a celebratory school luncheon, hosted by principal Ms. Ana Alvarez Arimon, marking the awarding of a National Blue Ribbon Award to the school this year. Ms. Kerly Cileli, and Dr. Carlos Insignares from Student Services smile below as they enjoyed the celebration.

And in one of so many demonstrations of Kindness here at DASH, Madame Teresa Grafton is conducting her annual Coats for Kids drive to provide gently worn coats, scarves and sweaters for our warm hearted alumni who pursue their own visions of excellence often in cold climes.
