Paloma Izquierdo, 2014 Presidential Scholar in the Arts

It’s official! DASH congratulates Paloma Izquierdo on achieving the nation’s highest honor for a graduating high school senior. Paloma is one of 20 students from around the country and the only one from Miami awarded the distinction of Presidential Scholar in the Arts for 2014. This is the second consecutive year DASH is sending students to be honored on behalf of President Obama at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC (for 2013, Miami’s 2 recipients out of 20 nationwide were both also from DASH: Katiuscia Gregoire and Mateo Nava).

Paloma joins the 50th class of U.S. Presidential Scholars. The 20 Scholars in the Arts, all 2014 YoungArts Winners, were nominated to The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars by YoungArts, and selected based on academic, civic and artistic achievement. DASH could not be more proud of such a talented, helpful, humble, and deserving student.
