For the past 5 years, the Young Designers Scholarship Fund has provided select DASH (Design and Architecture Senior High) students full scholarship for a three-week Summer Pre-College experience in New York City. Please consider making a gift of $25 or more. Your support provides a life-changing experience to 15- to 18-year-old design students.
Give Miami Day is a unique, 24-hour online giving event that allows individuals in our community the opportunity to build a greater Miami by making a charitable gift to a local nonprofit (like Young Designers Scholarship Fund!).
This year, The Miami Foundation, Knight Foundation and their partners will maximize the community’s generosity by making a bonus gift for every donation between $25 and $10,000.
On behalf of the students we would like to thank you for supporting the Young Designers Scholarship Fund.

An article in the New York Times magazine headlined Twenty Designers on the Art That Inspires Them, featured our very own Mr. John Germain. As the feature piece states, “Art and fashion are famously symbiotic — but a new auction shows just how much designers have drawn influences from works of art. For a new sale on the site Paddle8, 20 American designers — including Michael Kors, Thom Browne, Francisco Costa and Diane von Furstenberg — have each picked one piece of art that has influenced their work …” As seen in the screen capture above, no less a figure than Diane von Furstenberg has drawn upon Mr. Germain’s work for her own artistic inspiration.
DASH, through the notable and noted work of its many gifted educators, once again shines in the national spotlight keeping company with such world class artists and designers as Kors, von Furstenburg and many others of this stature. We are proud that Mr. Germain is counted among the members of this distinguished group.
Last Friday night, prominent Miami Architects were honored at the Adrienne Arsht Center in downtown Miami. Hundreds of professionals from architectural firms and faculty of architecture programs attended the annual event. The community recognized the quality and high standard of professional and student work.
At the award ceremony DASH Senior Architecture Student Felix Reyes was given “Student of the Year.” Congratulations to Felix Reyes for his continuing success in the Architecture Program at DASH.
Rarely does the Senior class of DASH burst into applause when guest speakers enter the room. But on October 22, the presence of Alberto Ibarguen, and Victoria Rogers from the Knight Foundation along with the message they delivered to the DASH students elicited just that type of enthusiastic reception.
DASH was so honored to have both of them here. These individuals have provided life-altering experiences for DASH students and meeting them helps students understand the many rich experiences available to them.
