Donate a Painting to Save a Life

DASH junior Matie Iribarren has a long history of community service through mission trips. Right now, she is asking for submissions of 2-D art to be sold at the Gomez Mulet (La Boheme) Gallery to benefit a 19-month-old girl named Merillisa Zpata Cruz. Merillisa was diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma, a type of liver cancer, when she was two months old, and after five cycles of chemotherapy she has an 85% chance of being cured if the tumor is surgically removed from her liver.

Merillisa comes from an impoverished region of the Dominican Republic, and because her family cannot afford the surgery, she will be flown to Jackson Memorial Hospital if 20 to 40 thousand dollars are raised for her operation.

Interested in donating a piece? Email a photo of the 2D artwork you would like to donate along with a title and size to themaite@msn.com before Thursday, November 7th. Fourteen hours of community service will be awarded for each painting donated. If you have any questions regarding what to submit feel free to ask Maite Iribarren.
